Discovery Award Winners talk about their experience!

  • Lowell Milken Center Fellow Nate McAlister stands with his students who won the 2016 Discovery Award.

In 2016, Royal Valley Middle School students Luke Boyden, Colin Everts, and Colin Caviness took home the grand prize in the Discovery Award Competition. Led by LMC Fellow Nate McAlister, they created a documentary about Emma Darling Cushman, an American nurse who saved thousands of children during the Armenian genocide.  Now, Luke and Colin Caviness look back at their process, the skills they learned, and what it meant to win first place in an international competition.
